bright eyes

I am endlessly humbled by the way a child’s mind absorbs fragments of our adult world without prejudice, turns them over and transforms them with that uncanny, unwitting knowingness –

This morning, as I listened to my three year old singing to herself, I heard:

“turn around bright eyes,

every now and then I fall apart…

…and then I put it back together again”

A famous bit of 80s melodrama firmly put in its place by toddler logic… and wise counsel that I have carried in my heart all day.
